"Bay
Area alt. country heroes The Cowlicks are a spirited bunch of guys with
quite a few "formerly of" pedigrees among them - bassist/vocalist Mike
Anderson of the Big Blue Hearts, drummer Peter Tucker of The Waybacks,
songwriter and lead singer/guitarist Todd Novak of The Schramms - but
with songs like these, you'll soon be focused on this rollicking debut
rather than their bio. This quintet delivers catchy, countrified gems
dripping with slide guitar and mandolin mastery. Brad Kava of the San
Jose Mercury News noted of his first listen, "The songwriting was so
sharp and focused, the performance so tight, the harmonies so smooth,
I couldn't believe this was a band that still had day jobs... equally
comfortable with Hank Williams-inspired country and Petty-flavored rock."

The Cowlicks live at KPIG (107.5) on Sleepy John's show "Please Stand By." On an early Sunday morning, the Cowlicks stumbled out of their tents in Big Sur, CA after a gig at The Henry Miller Library and made their way to the KPIG studios for a few acoustic numbers. Here's Todd, Michael, and Mike kickin' up the morning dew: The Cowlicks,
live & unplugged!
